Skate-A-Thon

There is currently not a skate-a-thon scheduled. Stay tuned!

  • A skate-a-thon is a fundraising event where skaters skate as many laps as possible to raise money! Donors pledge a desired $ amount and donate the amount at the end of the event. For example, if you pledge $1 per lap and your skater skates 25 laps, you’d donate $25 to MRD.

  • There will be a link available to sign up before a scheduled skate-a-thon. Fill out the Google Form and we will send you an invoice at the end of the event! Want to donate a flat amount instead of per lap? There is an option for that on the form!

  • We’re so glad you asked! A portion of the funds will go directly to the league for our skater scholarship to cover the fees associated with roller derby and another portion will go to our helmet fund.

  • Rest assured that we will have multiple opportunities to watch and stream the event (which you’ll definitely want to do!). Stay tuned for updates closer to the day of the event!

  • There is an option to list a maximum desired donation on the sign-up form. Any donation amount is appreciated!

About Roller Derby

Memphis Roller Derby plays flat-track roller derby according to the latest rules from the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).

Roller derby is played with two teams - consisting of five skaters each - on a flat, oval track. Each team nominates one skater to be the point-scorer (Jammer), who earns one point for each opposing skater that they lap.

The remaining skaters (Blockers) try to clear a path for their Jammer while blocking the opposing jammer from passing them. It’s fast-paced and chaotic!
